American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD)

California Adolescent Nutrition and Fitness Program (CANFit)

Since 1993, CANFit has been at the heart of the movement to improve healthy eating and physical activity environments for adolescents. From grassroots to government, CANfit works with community-based and youth-serving organizations to identify local solutions and support the development of culturally competent policy and practices.

California Center for Physical Activity

The California Center for Physical Activity creates opportunities for everyday activity by connecting partners to active living resources and helping develop more walkable and bikeable communities. The Center works through strategic alliances with physical activity experts, local health departments, community-based organizations and like-minded public- and private-sector partners.

CDC's KidsWalk-to-School is a community-based program that aims to increase opportunities for daily physical activity by encouraging children to walk to and from school in groups accompanied by adults.

National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA)

A national nonprofit organization devoted to advancing park, recreation and conservation efforts that enhance the quality of life for all Americans. NRPA encourages recreation initiatives for youth in high-risk environments, the promotion of healthy lifestyles, and conservation of natural and cultural resources.
