Food and Nutrition Service Evaluation of the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP)
The Food and Nutrition Service of the US Department of Agriculture is funding an evaluation to determine the impact of the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) on children's consumption of fruits and vegetables and on other dietary changes, such as decreased consumption of less nutritious foods. The FFVP began as a pilot program in 2002 and was expanded to a nationwide program operating in selected low-income schools by the 2008 Farm Bill. The program aims to introduce school children to fresh fruits and vegetables and to provide healthier snack choices during the school day.
